Designer Spotlight: Ace French-chic with Pasduchas’ blend of French and Australian flair

For this special Australian Edition of our Designer Spotlight series, we’ve rounded up eight labels from Down Under that have landed on our radar. Here’s a label whose designs are a lovely blend of French and Australian style:

Inspired by French simplicity, Alicia Arcuri and Katie McVeigh founded Pasduchas (pronounced ‘par-doo-shar’) in 2011 with a simple aim — to create clothing with bold silhouettes of Australian fashion, yet tied back with the modern simplicity of the French. Adapted from the ballet phrase pas de chat meaning ‘catlike leap’, the name Pasduchas has grown to be the brand’s motto of taking a leap. Arcuri and McVeigh took a leap of faith when they decided to leave their day jobs and delve into the business full-time, and their hard work has definitely paid off.

Designed and made in Australia, the brand prides itself on developing a transparent production chain and maintaining high standards of quality control. Their feminine designs have a polished bohemian flair, with floral prints having become a signature of their aesthetic. Their pieces, made for the modern woman who doesn’t shy away from wearing prints, are great for work and get-togethers. Here are some of our top picks:

From the Infinite Wardrobe: Haven Square Midi Dress

In pure Aries fashion, Nicolette’s passions reveal themselves in fiery bursts — tell that to her 4-year-old flugelhorn still in mint condition. If she isn’t DM-ing you memes from private Instagram accounts, she’s probably snuggled up to a sitcom. A huge admirer of the harmonious coexistence between the style sensibilities and atrocities of the ‘90s. Yin and yang, baby.
