For this special Australian Edition of our Designer Spotlight series, we’ve rounded up eight labels from Down Under that have landed on our radar. Here’s a label with sophisticated printed pieces:
Established in 2003 in Sydney, Australia, Honey and Beau is known for their bold, feminine and flirtatious designs that exude a glimmer of glamour. Their design aesthetic is contemporary but playful, and is guided by the philosophy that simple clothes don’t have to be boring. The collections feature unique prints and bold patterns mixed with functional silhouettes that can take you from day to night. The brand counts soft, lightweight rayon as one of their favourite fabrics, so you can count on the clothes being incredibly wearable.
Their design team has also won several accolades, as their lead designer was crowned Australian Young Designer Award in 2007 Australian Week, and won the Metropolitan Institute of TAFE Collection Award in 2008. In their success, Honey and Beau has also expanded to opening a sister label, Romance, in 2003. He has also designed for celebrities such as Kelly Osbourne and Cindy Crawford!
Season after season, Honey and Beau continues to release colourful pieces that are sophisticated yet sexy, perfect for events and parties. We picked some of our favourites that’ll take you from desk to dinner.
From the Infinite Wardrobe: Valentine Maxi
Add some colour into your usual work wardrobe with this multi-coloured striped maxi. The striking pattern on such a simple silhouette makes it a surprisingly wearable style. It’s also great for you ladies who prefer dresses that don’t show too much skin.
From the Infinite Wardrobe: Strangers Mini Dress
Go big or go home – this eccentric piece has lots going on, but in all the right places. It’s an unorthodox choice for a party dress that exudes a ton of personality. If you love clashing prints and pattern-mixing, definitely take this for a spin at your next party!
From the Infinite Wardrobe: Bowie Midi Dress with Slip
Play with layers and textures in this midi dress with a mini slip lining and a sheer guipure lace overlay that gives a peekaboo effect. Pair with heels for a feminine look or chunky black boots for an added edge.
From the Infinite Wardrobe: Rainbow Flare Leg Jumpsuit
This rainbow striped jumpsuit is definitely giving us some ‘70s hippie vibes – not that it’s a bad thing! Throw on a jacket and some heels for office gatherings, or wear it as it is to parties and festivals. Plus, those vertical stripes can elongate your body and give you legs for days.
From the Infinite Wardrobe: Pretty Things Jumpsuit
Can’t get enough of jumpsuits? Well, add this to your wishlist for casual events and gatherings. Stand out from the crowd in this unique botanical print. For a more modest style, pair it with a turtleneck top underneath. And don’t worry, the loose silhouette makes it great for hiding your food baby at the end of the party.
