Like all clothing, your bag deserves your attention – Christian Dior in The Little Dictionary of Fashion.
When it comes to creative iconic bag names and genius craftsmanship, Dior is at the forefront of elegance and timeless creations. Constructed with the utmost in savoir-faire and creativity, Dior bags are made to steal the spotlight and easily add the ultimate touch of sophistication and femininity to every outfit.
Here, we look at our 6 of our favourite of-the-moment Dior bags:
1. Shoulder/Handbag: Saddle
We’re having major bag envy seeing the iconic Dior Saddle on every It Girl’s shoulders. The jockey-inspired style that hit peak pop culture when worn by Carrie Bradshaw of Sex and the City comes in oblique jacquard canvas, embroidered varieties, classic black and red grained calfskin leather that contrast so well with the aged gold-tone metal hardware and calfskin leather details.

2. Shoulder/Cross Body Bag: Diorama Flap Bag
Geometric shapes take on a sexy yet sophisticated look with the Diorama flap bag. Featuring the Cannage design we have grown to love and know Dior for (read more in Lady Dior section below), the calfskin leather paired with the crest-shaped clasp gives us a utilitarian-chic vibe. We like how this bag can be transformed from a shoulder bag during the workweek, and cross-body style during the weekends for street-style cool.

4. Shoulder/Cross Body/Handbag: Lady Dior Bag
Lady Dior was an homage to Princess Diana in 1995. Then the first lady of France, Bernadette Chirac contacted Dior to produce a unique handbag as a gift to Diana, then Princess of Wales, on the occasion of her first visit to France. The bag was christened Princesse before it was launched as Lady Dior when Diana carried it for public events and official visits. Over two hundred thousand models were sold in its first two years, and we can see why.
A distinctive graphic code of the House of Dior is the Cannage (caning) design. Inspired by the cannage design of the rattan chairs in his salon, Christian Dior used the two lines from the weaving technique to produce crossed diagonal threads to make this design as iconic to Dior as quilted black is to Chanel.
The Cannage topstitching on lambskin exudes a fine sophistication that makes this bag iconic and covetable. The DIOR charms in light tone hardware let the leather craftsmanship take centre stage while the versatility of the bag is created with a narrow shoulder strap.
We’d take the Lady Dior any day–when held in hand or worn on shoulder for formal events or work, and across the body on the weekends for that hands-free shopping! It’s a great accessory to enhance any minimalistic ensemble.

6. Shoulder/Handbag: Dior Book Tote Bag
When Dior is in the spotlight, it’s hard to ignore the bags they produced that not many fashion houses would attempt. With Dior’s savoir-faire and partnership with Maria Grazia Chiuri, the Dior Book Tote bag is fast becoming fashion elites’ favourite.
Imagine carrying all your necessities and then some. The roomy tote bag is casual elegance and we can’t help but wishlist our favourite motifs and colours.
One of the unique motifs produced is the Toile de Jouy motif, which is a great French classic from the 18th century. The toile de jouy was given a modern makeover with a new series of wild animals hand drawn like engravings in pen and ink to create the pastoral scenes–that is something we also saw in Gucci’s recent designs. The traditional dyes of the House of Dior recreate this fabric design refresh that is the talk-of-the-town since its release on trench coats, apparel, and the handbags.
New to the Infinite Wardrobe is the burgundy Dior Book Tote that can be carried over the shoulder or in hand with ease. We love how it stands out against monochromatic outfits and, yes we said it, denim. Try it.
